Can DASYLab and the USB-2408-2AO acquire data and output data to an analog or digital output at the same time?


Q: Can DASYLab and the USB-2408-2AO acquire data and output data to an analog or digital output at the same time?

A: Yes. Configure your worksheet with an Analog Input, with your desired sample rate and block size. The Analog input will use the InstaCal settings to determine the type of sensor (voltage or thermocouple), the maximum sample rate, and the data range. With thermocouples, you also need to configure the desired temperature units (C, F or K).

Note: Due to the sample rate of this device, the AO needs to be configured as SW paced, not HW paced. DO is normally SW paced, so it works fine with the lower sample rates of the device. 

The attached example uses one of the MCC-DRV examples that are listed on the DASYLab Resources page. It adds a Trigger Module that monitors the incoming data signal, and when the temperature is above the defined threshold, the trigger will output 5V, otherwise it outputs 0V. This trigger is then sent to the Analog Output and displayed on a Status lamp module. To use a Digital Output, simply replace the Analog output with a Digital output. 

The most complex aspect of this example is that the sample rate of the data going into the Analog output will determine the AO update rate. Also, please see this article that discusses Analog Input and Analog Input and timebases:
